Di Tran: From Mud Huts to American Dreams
Di Tran’s remarkable journey began in the rural landscapes of Vietnam, a third-world country, where he once lived in a mud hut, watching his father wear the same pair of pants day after day. Yet, from those humble beginnings, Tran’s life story stands as a beacon of hope, ambition, and the sheer power of perseverance.
In 1995, Tran and his family arrived in the U.S., speaking not a word of English, and with very little in their pockets. But where others might have seen insurmountable barriers, Tran only saw opportunities. His unwavering work ethic had him working seven days a week, emphasizing the importance of both formal and daily life education. Tran believes in the power of consistent growth through reading, writing, and meaningful communication.
Over the years, Tran’s dedication to personal and professional growth is evident. He became a U.S. Citizen in 2000, and his pursuit of knowledge led him to earn a B.S. in 2006 and an M.S. in 2009 in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Louisville, eventually culminating in a Doctorate of Philosophy from Sullivan University in 2017.
Founder of ten successful businesses, with a track record spanning 18 years as a computer programmer/engineer at a Fortune 50 company, Tran has made his mark. He also shares his wisdom as a part-time computer science professor at Sullivan University and has impacted countless lives by mentoring 20 individuals to start their businesses. In 2016, his vision to empower led to the foundation of the Louisville Beauty Academy, which has since enabled over 250 people to secure well-paying jobs without any government aid.
Di Tran, an absolute embodiment of perseverance and hard work, emphasizes that each human being is valuable and capable. Despite English being his second language, he’s never let it deter him from his passion for writing. Using editors, both human and digital (like AI), Tran translates his thoughts into words, believing that knowledge transcends language barriers.
His books are not just collections of words but lessons in grit, determination, and the spirit of giving life one’s all. They motivate readers to commit wholeheartedly to their endeavors, reassuring them that with dedication, results will follow.
Today, Di Tran is an esteemed member of various boards and committees, continuously finding ways to give back to the community that embraced him. Alongside his wonderful wife Vy and their three sons, Tran calls Louisville home, a testament to a journey that went from mud huts in Vietnam to realizing the American Dream.
