Serving Others and Growing Together: Di Tran Reflects on the Power of Rotary Club of Louisville Projects

Di Tran, the CEO of Di Tran Enterprise, has built a successful business that includes Louisville Beauty Academy, Louisville Institute of Technology, and other small businesses. As an author of “Drop the ME and Focus on the OTHERS” and soon to be released “Drop the FEAR and Focus on the FAITH,” Di Tran has made serving others a central theme in his work and personal life. Recently, he reflected on the Rotary event fundraising efforts and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve others through the Rotary Club of Louisville projects.

Vy Truong – Di Tran’s Wife

The Rotary Club is a global organization that is dedicated to promoting peace and improving communities around the world. The Rotary Club of Louisville is one of the largest Rotary Clubs in the world, with over 350 members, and has been serving the community for more than 110 years. The club is committed to making a positive impact in the community and beyond, with initiatives that focus on education, health, and community development projects.

The Rotary Club of Louisville has undertaken numerous projects over the years, including the Rotary Promise Scholarships, which provide tuition-free enrollment at Jefferson Community & Technical College to qualifying graduates from two high schools in the Jefferson County Public School system. The scholarships are designed to motivate students to be academically successful in high school and improve the college-going rate. Another project is the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, which provides scholarships for students to attend a three-day leadership program.

Dr. B, Vy Truong and Di Tran

The club also recognizes unsung heroes each year by honoring one senior from each public, private, and Catholic high school for their school and community volunteer work. They also award two Unsung Heroes students a $2,000 renewable scholarship to a local four-year college that is matched by most of the institutions. In addition, they support various community projects, such as Repair Affair, which mobilizes resources and volunteers to make repairs on homes owned by low-income homeowners who are elderly or disabled.

On an international level, the Rotary Club of Louisville contributes annually to Rotary International’s 32-year-long campaign to eradicate polio in the world. They also partner with other Rotary Clubs in the U.S. or abroad to support various projects, such as providing clean water, working septic systems, kitchen gardens, and instruction on recycling and environmental protection in eight isolated schools in a mountainous area of Colombia.

March 27th at Waterfront Botanical Gardens! – Fundraising

Di Tran, at 40 years old, is grateful for the opportunity to learn and serve others through Rotary projects. As a young CEO compared to many of the other leaders and successful business owners in the Rotary Club of Louisville, he recognizes the importance of the Rotary Club’s values of truth, fairness, goodwill, and friendship. He believes that serving others is the true meaning of life, and he strives to instill this value in his work and personal life.

The fundraising event that Di Tran reflected on was a recent Rotary Club of Louisville initiative that aimed to raise funds to support various community and international projects. The event took place at the Waterfront Botanical Gardens and included the opportunity to attend in person, buy raffle tickets for a chance to win an amazing trip, or bid on online auction experiences. The fundraising event was a way for Rotary to raise funds to help others, and Di Tran is blessed to be part of such an important effort.

Di Tran believes that being around the “have done it” and weekly reminding himself of the Rotary mission, such as “is it the truth, is it fair to all concern, will it build goodwill and better friendship, and will it be beneficial to all concern” Rotary four-way test, has helped him grow each day. He wishes to teach his kids the same values, and he feels grateful to be part of the Rotary Club of Louisville’s efforts to serve others and make a positive impact in the world.

6 Effective Ways to Motivate Toddlers to Study, Read, and Do Math

As parents, we all want our children to succeed in life, and a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy is essential for their future success. However, motivating toddlers to learn can be a challenge. Toddlers are naturally curious and love to explore, but they also have short attention spans and may get easily distracted. In this article, we will discuss some effective ways to motivate toddlers to study, read, and do math.

Make Learning Fun

Toddlers learn best through play, so incorporating learning into fun activities is essential. One way to do this is by using educational toys and games that help develop literacy and numeracy skills. For example, a puzzle with letters or numbers can help children learn to recognize them while having fun.

Another way to make learning fun is by using books with interactive features, such as lift-the-flap books or touch-and-feel books. These books can help keep toddlers engaged and interested in reading.

Read Together

Reading with your child is one of the best ways to develop literacy skills in toddlers. Choose age-appropriate books that are colorful and have simple words and sentences. Reading together can also be a bonding experience, and it helps children develop a love for books.

When reading with your child, try to engage them by asking questions about the story or the characters. This helps them develop comprehension skills and encourages them to think critically.

Provide a Stimulating Environment

Creating a stimulating learning environment is crucial to motivating toddlers to study, read, and do math. Set up a designated area for learning, such as a playroom or a corner of the living room. Fill this area with age-appropriate books, puzzles, and educational toys.

Make sure that the learning environment is safe, comfortable, and free from distractions. It should be a place where your child can focus on learning and exploring without any interruptions.

Use Positive Reinforcement

Positive reinforcement can be a powerful motivator for toddlers. Praise and reward them for their efforts and achievements, even if they are small. For example, you can praise your child for recognizing a letter or a number, or for completing a puzzle.

Rewards can be simple, such as a hug or a high-five, or more significant, such as a special treat or a small toy. However, be careful not to overdo the rewards, as this can lead to your child expecting rewards for everything they do.

Set Achievable Goals

Setting achievable goals is essential to motivate toddlers to learn. Make sure to set realistic goals that your child can achieve, and celebrate their successes along the way. For example, you can set a goal for your child to learn a new letter or number each week.

When your child achieves a goal, celebrate with them and praise their efforts. This helps them build confidence and stay motivated.

Be Patient and Persistent

Learning takes time, and every child learns at their own pace. It is essential to be patient and persistent when motivating toddlers to learn. Remember that some days will be better than others, and it’s okay to take a break when your child is not in the mood for learning.

Be consistent in your approach and keep encouraging your child to learn. With the right approach and a little patience, your child will develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime.

Motivating toddlers to study, read, and do math can be challenging, but it’s essential for their future success. Making learning fun, reading together, providing a stimulating environment, using positive reinforcement, setting achievable goals, and being patient and persistent are all effective ways to motivate toddlers to learn. With the right approach, you can help your child develop a love for learning that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Life Lessons from Poker: Dealing with People, Situations, and Business

Life can be compared to a poker game in many ways, particularly when dealing with people, situations, and small or big businesses. In this article, we’ll explore how life is similar to poker in these areas and how we can apply poker principles to succeed in our personal and professional lives.

When dealing with people, life is like a poker game in that we never know what cards we’ll be dealt. People come from different backgrounds and have their unique personalities, motivations, and behaviors. Just as in poker, we have to be observant and adaptable to the people around us. We need to understand their motives, strengths, and weaknesses, and adjust our strategies accordingly. In poker, players study their opponents’ behavior and try to read their “tells” to predict their moves. Similarly, in life, we can learn to read people’s body language, tone of voice, and facial expressions to better understand them and communicate effectively.

Situations in life are also unpredictable, much like in poker. Just as in poker, where players have to make the best of their hands, we have to be prepared to face any situation and make the best of what we have. We can’t control the cards we’re dealt, but we can control how we react to them. In life, we can learn to be resilient and adapt to changes. We need to be open to new experiences and willing to take risks. In poker, players take calculated risks based on their cards and their opponents’ behavior. Similarly, in life, we need to take calculated risks and make decisions based on our situation, goals, and values.

Small and big businesses can also be compared to a poker game. Just as in poker, businesses face uncertainty, risk, and competition. To succeed in business, we need to be strategic and make informed decisions. In poker, players need to know when to fold, raise, or call based on their cards and their opponents’ behavior. Similarly, in business, we need to know when to cut our losses, invest in new opportunities, or maintain the status quo. We need to have a clear understanding of our customers, market, and competition to make informed decisions.

Deception is also a factor in business, just as it is in poker. In poker, players try to deceive their opponents by bluffing or hiding their true intentions. Similarly, in business, companies may use marketing tactics to influence consumers’ perception of their products or services. However, just as in poker, deception can backfire if it’s not done well. In business, companies need to be transparent and honest with their customers to build trust and loyalty.

Luck also plays a role in both poker and life. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, things may not go our way due to factors beyond our control. However, luck is not the only factor in determining success. In poker and life, we need to combine luck with skill, strategy, and adaptability to achieve our goals.

Life can be compared to a poker game in many ways. Whether dealing with people, situations, or businesses, we can apply poker principles to succeed. We need to be observant, adaptable, resilient, strategic, and willing to take calculated risks. While luck plays a role, success is ultimately determined by our skills, strategy, and ability to adapt to changes.

Revolutionizing International Student Recruitment: The Benefits of MiaHire from Di Tran Enterprise

International student recruitment is a critical aspect of universities and colleges in the United States. With the increasing competition and globalization of education, universities are continually seeking new ways to attract and retain international students. One of the most effective ways to do this is by using online recruitment tools such as MiaHire from Di Tran Enterprise, which utilizes video online interviews.

Traditionally, the process of recruiting international students involved resume screening followed by in-person interviews. However, this method is time-consuming, and universities often miss out on good candidates due to geographical barriers. With MiaHire, universities can overcome these challenges by conducting video interviews, which allow them to handle a large number of applications while not missing out on excellent candidates.

One of the significant advantages of using MiaHire is that it enables universities to evaluate candidates based on their English proficiency, which is essential for success in their academic studies. English proficiency is one of the major challenges international students face when studying abroad. Therefore, by assessing a candidate’s English language skills during the recruitment process, universities can ensure that only those who meet the necessary standards are selected.

Hiring challenge

Furthermore, MiaHire is an excellent tool for universities looking to expand their reach abroad. While using ambassadors who speak the country’s language and are in the same field of expertise is a proven strategy for universities, this method has limitations in terms of scale and time constraints. In contrast, MiaHire enables universities to connect with candidates from various parts of the world without leaving their campuses, making the recruitment process more efficient and cost-effective.

MiaHire is also an excellent tool for universities seeking to enhance their diversity and inclusion efforts. The video online interview format allows candidates from various backgrounds and cultures to showcase their unique strengths and abilities, enabling universities to select the best candidates based on merit rather than cultural biases.

International student recruitment is a critical aspect of universities and colleges in the United States, and online recruitment tools such as MiaHire from Di Tran Enterprise are the way forward. With its video online interview format, universities can evaluate candidates’ English proficiency, expand their reach abroad, and enhance their diversity and inclusion efforts. As universities continue to seek new ways to attract and retain international students, using tools such as MiaHire will undoubtedly be a game-changer in the recruitment process.

From Frustration to Resilience: An Immigrant’s Journey Through NewComer Academy

Being an immigrant and a no-English immigrant young adult through school and life is not an easy journey. But as I reflect on my experience, I realize that it helped toughen me up and shaped me into the person I am today.

As a no-English immigrant, I remember the frustration and isolation of not being able to communicate with others. It was a difficult experience, but it taught me resilience and the importance of hard work. I had to work twice as hard as my peers to learn the language and keep up with my studies.

But as time passed, I began to see the benefits of being bilingual. I could speak to my family in their native language and also communicate with a wider range of people. I realized that being an immigrant and learning a new language gave me a unique perspective that others didn’t have.

Throughout my journey, I encountered many challenges, but I also received support from teachers and mentors who believed in me. They provided me with the guidance and resources I needed to succeed, and I am forever grateful for their kindness.

As I moved through school and into my adult life, I faced new challenges, such as navigating the complexities of the immigration system and overcoming stereotypes and discrimination. But through it all, I remained resilient and determined to achieve my goals.

Today, as a successful professional, I recognize that being an immigrant and a no-English immigrant young adult has made me stronger and more adaptable. I have learned to embrace diversity and appreciate the beauty of different cultures. I am proud of my journey and the person I have become.

Being an immigrant and a no-English immigrant young adult is not an easy journey, but it can be a rewarding one. It teaches resilience, hard work, and the importance of community support. To all the young immigrants out there, know that you are not alone and that your journey can lead to great success and personal growth.

Di Tran’s reflection as a visitor and presenter at NewComer school

As I walked through the building and presented to different classes of students, I saw myself in every single one of them. I remembered the frustration and isolation of not being able to communicate, but I also felt confident and shared that confidence with the students. I knew that they could achieve their dreams, just as I had become a successful serial business owner and IT professional with multiple degrees.

I want to thank the teachers of JCPS, especially all ESL teachers, for their dedication and hard work in changing the lives of these young immigrants. They provide critical support and resources to these students, helping them overcome language barriers and succeed in their new home.

To all young immigrants out there, know that you are not alone. Embrace your uniqueness and believe in yourself. With hard work, determination, and community support, anything is possible. And to the teachers and mentors who provide support and guidance to young immigrants, know that your work is invaluable and life-changing.

Life Progress: The Power of Imagination and Creativity

Dylan Tran, a five-year-old boy, is an embodiment of imagination and creativity. His ability to create stories out of small experiences is remarkable, and it’s a testament to how children’s minds work. In his kindergartener class, Dylan had the opportunity to play with fish and snails, and he was excited to share his experience with his dad.

As he narrated his story to his dad, Dylan’s imagination took him on an adventure that involved eating a pet, flying to the moon, and eating it all up. Though it might seem like a silly story, Dylan’s imagination is a powerful tool that can help him navigate the world.

Imagination is a critical part of our lives, and it is what propels us forward. As we grow older, the demands of life can sometimes cloud our imagination, and we lose touch with the creative part of ourselves. However, if we can tap into our imagination and use it to visualize our goals and aspirations, we can make progress in our lives.

Dylan’s ability to create stories from his experiences is a great example of how we can use our imagination to make progress. By seeing beyond what is immediately in front of us, we can imagine a different future, a better future. This future might involve taking risks, stepping outside our comfort zones, and doing things differently. But by tapping into our imagination, we can create a roadmap to get there.

Creativity is also an important aspect of making progress in life. Dylan’s ability to create stories is an example of how creativity can help us overcome obstacles and find solutions to problems. When we are creative, we can find new ways of doing things, and we can come up with ideas that we might not have thought of before.

In today’s world, creativity is highly valued. The ability to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions is what sets people apart. Creativity is not just limited to artists or writers; it is a skill that can be applied to any area of life, whether it’s business, technology, or science.

Dylan’s story is a reminder that imagination and creativity are powerful tools that we should never underestimate. As we grow older, it’s important to hold onto these traits and use them to make progress in our lives. By tapping into our imagination and creativity, we can envision a brighter future and work towards making it a reality.

Dylan’s story about his kindergarten experience with fish and snails might seem like a simple story, but it’s a reminder of the power of imagination and creativity. These traits are essential for making progress in life, and we should cultivate them to ensure that we never lose touch with the creative part of ourselves. Whether we’re five or fifty-five, we can use our imagination and creativity to envision a better future and work towards making it a reality.

The Superhero Journey of Being an Entrepreneur

Being an entrepreneur is like being a superhero, constantly learning to figure oneself out and going through life’s ups and downs with answers constantly coming through. It’s a challenging but fulfilling path that involves wearing all kinds of hats and facing fears of being different.

As a child, many entrepreneurs may have feared standing out from the crowd, but as they progress through each stage of their business journey, they learn to embrace their uniqueness and become comfortable with being different. This acceptance is not always easy, as entrepreneurs may find themselves being accepted by the norm one minute, and then being unaccepted the next. The cycle of acceptance and rejection can be challenging, but it is all part of the journey.

Entrepreneurs are loved by some, hated by others, and are often subject to high expectations. They strive to make the majority of their customers happy with their products and services, but some will never be satisfied, and this is something that they must accept.

However, as entrepreneurs, they learn to accept all results, and not take offense to any level of criticism thrown their way. They evolve and change every minute to adapt to the constantly changing business landscape, and learn to handle the lows and control their excitement during the highs. Nothing is too much or too little for them, and boredom is a non-existent concept.

Each day brings new opportunities, and entrepreneurs crave the excitement and challenges that come with it. They prepare themselves every morning and are ready to hustle out the door. They appreciate all things in life because they know that all things and people matter in the ecosystem of business. They give thanks daily for everything that they have.

Despite the rewards of being an entrepreneur, it can also be a lonely path. Entrepreneurs often feel isolated because no one else understands the challenges that they face. But this is a cost that they are willing to pay to pursue their passions and create something of value for the world.

Being an entrepreneur is like being a superhero. It involves constantly learning, evolving, and facing fears. Entrepreneurs must wear many hats, accept all results, and learn to adapt to the constantly changing business landscape. While it can be a lonely path, entrepreneurs appreciate everything in life and are always ready for the next challenge.

This year, JusticeFest was produced as part of the Derby Equity and Community Initiative, with Kentucky Derby Festival, Churchill Downs, and Humana.

Style ‘N Go – Braiding for Student

Among the panelists at JusticeFest was Di Tran, the author of “Drop the ME and Focus on the OTHERS” and the soon-to-be-released book “Drop the FEAR and Focus on the FAITH”. As a business owner and a leader in the community, Di Tran understands the importance of empowering young people to create positive change.

Di Tran shared his story and experiences as a business owner with the young leaders at JusticeFest. He is the owner of Louisville Beauty Academy, a beauty school that has graduated over 1000 students, and Louisville Institute of Technology, an IT apprenticeship program that prepares students for the workforce from day one.

NewComer Academy – JCPS Students

Di Tran was impressed by the creativity, intelligence, and passion of the young leaders at JusticeFest. He was honored to be a panelist and learn from them. Di Tran’s Encounter with Dr. Price: A Message of Progress and Equity

On February 16th, 2023, Di Tran attended a weekly event hosted by the Rotary Club of Louisville where she had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Price. From the start of their conversation, Di Tran was struck by Dr. Price’s opening statement, “I pray that God talk through me, and to you today.” It was an indication of the deep connection that Dr. Price had to her faith and a sign of her sincerity in addressing the issues that affect the community.

Dr. Price introduced herself as a member of the Urban League, a non-profit organization that aims to promote economic empowerment and social justice for people of color. She described how she starts her staff meetings with a reflection on the past, present, and future of the Urban League. She spoke with conviction and confidence that the past is obsolete, the future is obsolete, and the current state of progress is where the focus should be. She emphasized that the community must work together to create a future where there is no need to talk about equity, especially for black and brown people.

Dr. Price’s message was about leaning into discomfort and feeling it for others. It was a call to action for people to step outside their comfort zones and confront the challenges facing the community. She stressed the importance of taking practical steps to address the issues that prevent people from realizing their full potential.

One practical example that Dr. Price shared was the accessibility of Kumon tutoring for underprivileged children. Di Tran was highly aligned with this idea, recognizing that education is one of the keys to breaking the cycle of poverty. Dr. Price’s emphasis on the importance of practical solutions and small steps resonated with Di Tran and many others in the room.

Dr. Price’s message was one of hope and progress. She talked about the future of the city being bright because of people like herself and Di Tran coming together to do small things that add up. It was a reminder that positive change is possible, and it starts with each individual making a difference in their own way. Di Tran left the event feeling inspired and encouraged to continue making a positive impact in the community.

In conclusion, Di Tran’s meeting with Dr. Price at the Rotary Club of Louisville’s weekly event was a reminder of the importance of focusing on others and having faith in the future. As Di Tran writes in his first book, “Drop the ME and Focus on the OTHERs,” the key to personal and professional growth is shifting our attention away from ourselves and towards those around us. Dr. Price’s emphasis on leaning into discomfort and feeling it for others, as well as her commitment to providing resources like Kumon tutoring for underprivileged children, are shining examples of this principle in action.

Drop the FEAR and Focus on the FAITH by Di Tran

As Di Tran prepares to release his second book, “Drop the FEAR and Focus on the FAITH,” we can look forward to further insights and inspiration on how to navigate the challenges of life and work with courage and conviction. With the guidance of leaders like Dr. Price and the example of Di Tran’s own journey, we can all strive to become better, more compassionate, and more effective in our personal and professional lives.

Surrendering to God and Filling the Emptiness: A Profound Conversation with Liz Curtis Higgs

Who is Liz Curtis Higgs

Liz Curtis Higgs is a bestselling author, speaker, and Bible teacher. She was born in Kentucky, USA, in 1953, and grew up in a Christian family. She has written more than 30 books, including non-fiction works on topics such as biblical studies, women’s issues, and Christian living, as well as novels and children’s books.

Liz Curtis Higgs

Higgs is perhaps best known for her Bad Girls of the Bible series, which explores the lives of women in the Bible who made mistakes or broke the rules, such as Eve, Delilah, and Bathsheba. Her books have sold millions of copies and have been translated into numerous languages.

In addition to her writing, Higgs is a popular speaker and Bible teacher, and has traveled extensively to speak at conferences and events. She has also appeared on numerous television and radio programs. Higgs currently lives in Louisville, Kentucky, with her husband, Bill, and their two children.

Di Tran’s Meeting with Liz Curtis Higgs

Meeting Liz Curtis Higgs was a truly wonderful experience, and it was clear that God was working through both of us during our conversation. We talked about surrendering to God and the moment when we each became aware of the presence of the divine in our lives. Liz shared a profound insight with me, that our hearts, souls, and cores are like empty vacuum spaces that are constantly seeking to be filled with something.

As humans, we often seek to fill this emptiness with material things, food, alcohol, negativity, anger, power, success, or any number of other things. But what we fill up with truly matters, and the answer to our seeking is much simpler than we might imagine.

Di Tran + Liz Curtis Higgs

The answer has always been with us, as God is within each of us. We have everything we need, including the most powerful of all things, our spirit, which is in harmony with the infinite divine universe. The challenge is that we often don’t let our spirit do its job, as we try to control everything in our lives.

What we need to do is surrender and let go of our self, so that our spirit can run its course naturally and manifest the things we desire. This is in alignment with the idea of “Drop the FEAR and Focus on the FAITH,” which I explore in my upcoming book, the guide to faith by understanding fear and worry, and surrendering them so that God has the space to work through us.

It’s clear that filling the emptiness with things outside in the world doesn’t fill it. We need God as the energy to fill that space, and surrendering to God allows this energy to flow freely.

I’m so grateful for my conversation with Liz, and for the wisdom she shared with me. It’s clear that God is working through her, and through each of us, in ways that we might not even realize.
